SOMETHING BOTHERING YOU?
We get it: sometimes it’s hard to ask personal questions to adults you see everyday. But guess what? We don’t actually care if you talk to US; we just want to make sure you have the right people to talk to whenever you need answers or help.
Go Ask Alice is a website where teenagers can anonymously (without using your name) ask whatever they want, and a team of educators from Columbia University will answer back with information you can trust.
What should you do when your friends are cutting themselves? Is it possible to get over being depressed by yourself?
(OR YOU CAN JUST TALK TO US. SCROLL DOWN.)
Our Guidance Counselor Ms. Renfort is on maternity leave and we are all very happy for her growing family. In the meantime, we would like to introduce Ms. Cheong who will be filling in as our new Guidance Counselor.
She will be coming to each class in the next few weeks to say hi, and know that you don’t have to wait for her to come by before you ask to chat with her.
She can be reached at TCheong@equitasacademy.org, and a scheduling page will be posted here soon for you to pick a time to meet over Zoom.
ADVISORY and SECOND STEP
Each morning, your scholar’s homeroom teacher will be meeting with their class during ADVISORY to build community and learn more about the day before instruction begins. And one asynchronous (learn at your own pace) lesson per week will be assigned be our Conflict Resolution Specialist Ms. Testa to scholars for socio-emotional learning.
Remember: We are all in this together!
I’m so looking forward to starting this new kind of year with you!
